1952 - Matriculated Michaelhouse College. Youngest matriculant being only 16 years old.
1953- Naval College in the USA-Top cadet
1955-1957 - Studied law at UCT
1958-1959 - Registrar to my uncle Andries Beyers- Judge President of the Western Cape
1960-1961- Management Trainee Shell Company
1961- Attended Dale Carnegie Course and awarded as being the best student for the year
1962-1980 - Germ Lubricants - Pioneers of Lubricant Additives-Oldest oil company in Britain- I created many firsts such as: (1) Introduced Rape Seed Oil as Continous Casting lubricant at Scaw Metals. (2) Introduced first automatic water filter on Continous Casting Plant at Scaw Metals. (3) Introduced water glycol hydraulic fluid into SA to be used in furnaces at Iscor Van Der Bijl Park. (4) Introduced first copper (soluble) and aluminium drawing lubricants into SA. (5) I went to the USA to conclude filtration exclusive franchise for South Africa with Cuno Filters, Connecticut, New Haven, part of AMF International. Cuno Filters held its first International 5 day conference in Connecticut, attended by all of their global franchisees, 35 countries in total, I was lucky to achieve its first and only prestigious ‘’Special Achievement Award’’ in recognition of my outstanding achievements in the sales of AMF Cuno Products in South Africa.
Sold company as 50% shareholder and retired as the CEO
1973- Elected to the Institute of Marketing Management in South Africa
1975 - Became Fellow of the S.A. Institute of Directors
1981-1983 - Managing Director of Benny Goldberg’s Liquor Supermarket, part of the Premier Group. At the time the largest single liquor retail outlet in the world: (a) Introduced the first freight speed container load of champagne from France. (b) Installed largest ice making machine in the world. (c) Created largest whisky in-store promotion depicting Tower of London with a gigantic display of 1500 cases of Black and White Whisky. (d) We won the best display stand at the Rand Daily Mail Wine Festival held in Johannesburg, the largest of such festival ever held in South Africa. (e) Invited to prestigious annual Nederberg Wine Auction as a participant.
1984-1986 -Joined Caltex as ‘Assistant to the Chairman’ having taken over from retired Resident Director. I was the first senior executive in the South African Petroleum Industry to be employed from outside as such positions were always filled by in-house longstanding employees
Appointed as an Alternate Director to the Board of the Small Business Development- became Senior Associate Member of Assocom - partner of Chamdor Governing Body
1986-Completed Executive Leadership Course at US University​
1986-1987- Heavily involved in creating the largest charcoal producing plant in the world but after extensive exploratory global marketing, at the last step, the Chairman of IDC turned down my R50 million loan application, although already approved by the entire board.
Became a major shareholder in large realtor in Jhb- Steinhobel Ellis- and opened a commercial division in Midrand where I also became Senior Vice President in Midrand’s Chamber of Commerce.
1988-1991- Managing Director of Hamorthy Engineering South Africa, one of the largest boiler companies in South Africa at the time with our own two manufacturing plants in Cape Town, affiliated to Hamworthy in Hull, England, one of the largest engineering companies in Britain and part of the giant Powell Duffryn Group of Companies
Instigated the merger of Dryden Combustion Company and Hamworthy Engineering Africa to become even larger in the South African boiler industry
2000 Became Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in South Africa
1991-2002 Managing Director of Separation and Recovery Systems Ltd. a US-based company, part of the American Eco Group of Companies, at the time quoted on both the New York and Toronto Stock Exchanges
Formed a partnership with leading waste company in South Africa, namely Waste-Tech, and concluded 15-year remediation contract with Sasol to clean up their tar pit ponds in Sasolburg, the first and largest of its kind in South Africa
2002-2012 created a natural health supplement company, with its own manufacturing facility, Vitamin Health (Pty) Ltd. as such products were to become so much in demand and thereby creating the next worldwide trillion-dollar revolution. However, most sadly brought in crooked partners who forced me to liquidate the company and lost a personal fortune. They should all be behind bars.
2012 to the present: Wrote book, second edition, ‘’Selling Yourself as a Way of Life’’ on which contents I have given many motivational talks. Involved in the real estate industry for some 12 years, previously with Engel & Völkers, Fine and Country and Harcourts Atlantic. Presently Jorica and I are spearheading the residential luxury property market through our newly branded company MacJin Private Office specialisting in sales and rentals.
